City of Mississauga is seeking a Customer Service & Operations Support Coordinator in Food Services to support administrative duties and operations across city facilities. Reporting to the Supervisor, Food Services, the role combines staff supervision, payroll input in SAP, and financial record-keeping.

The temporary full-time position (35 hours/week) requires flexibility for evenings/weekends, strong MS Office skills, and a background in hospitality or food service administration.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in hospitality, business administration or a related field.
  • Experience in hospitality/food service administration is preferred.
  • Experience with budgeting and financial reporting is an asset.
  • Proficiency with payroll, scheduling and cash handling is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise part-time staff including recruiting, scheduling and training.
  • Maintain weekly revenue reports and audit daily revenue reports.
  • Handle payroll input in SAP and process bill payments.
  • Inventory management including purchasing and monthly counts.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Support marketing and promotion of food services.
  • Coordinate staff and meetings for food services.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Supervisor, Food Services the successful candidate will be responsible for administrative duties in supporting food service operations at various city facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervision of part time staff (Licensed Servers, Event/Banquet Coordinators, and Concession Coordinators) including recruiting, scheduling, training, supervising, evaluating as well as day to day functional guidance
  • Ensure appropriate financial and statistical records are maintained for food services including the preparation of weekly revenue reports and the auditing of daily revenue reports
  • Understand Corporate cash handling policies and procedures and ensure that they are implemented and maintained
  • Assist in the marketing and promotion of food services
  • Develop and revise facility administrative procedures which reflect corporate policies
  • Work with SAP for payroll inputting and bill payments
  • Inventory management - purchasing, daily controls, monthly inventory counts, monitor COGS percentages, maintain standard operating procedures and corporate policy compliance
  • Provide excellent and timely customer service to internal and external customers
  • Assist and support internal food services orders and event specifications
  • Proactively review industry standards to ensure that food services is current with food/service trends and provide support to staff to implement change
  • Facilitate weekly food services meetings
  • Act as a backup for the Administrative Assistant
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

NOTE: Must be available to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Skills and Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in hospitality, business administration or a related field required
  • Previous human resources experience is considered an asset
  • Minimum 3 years hospitality or food service administrative experience is preferred.
  • Previous food service or hospitality supervisory or leadership experience is required
  • Previous cash handling and food/beverage inventory control experience is considered an asset
  • Previous experience with budgeting and financial reporting is a definite asset
  • Experience recruiting, scheduling and payroll.
  • Advanced MS Office, including Word, Excel, Power Point is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Silverware POS is considered an asset
  • Proficiency in additional computer software applications including SAP is considered an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships, provide excellent customer service and work in a team environment with changing priorities
  • Research and analytical skills required
  • Previous knowledge of writing or implementing processes is an asset
  • Must hold a valid and current Intermediate First Aid or Standard First Aid certification with CPR C & AED from a recognized WSIB-provider, or must hold a valid and current Basic First Aid or Emergency First Aid with CPR C &AED from a recognized WSIB-provider, at the employee’s expense.
  • High Five and PHCD/Quest 2 knowledge are considered an asset
  • Smart Serve Certification or willing to obtain within 3 months from start date.
  • Travel between City of Mississauga facilities is required

Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 38.90 - $ 51.87
Grade: TD
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
