Job summary

Condair Group is seeking a Customer Specific Project Manager in Ottawa to lead customer-specific projects from inquiry to delivery. The role collaborates with Sales, Technical Product Management, and CSP Engineering to meet customer requirements.

The CSP PM guides scope, schedules, costs, and resources while driving continuous improvement and best practices for future projects. Travel up to 25% domestically and internationally is expected.

Job description

Title: Customer Specific Project Manager

Salary Range: $75,000 - $95,000

Purpose of Role

The Customer Specific Project Manager (CSP PM) is accountable for the successful delivery of customer-specific projects. Working with Sales, Technical Product Management, Application Engineering, CSP Engineering, Procurement, Operations, and Manufacturing, the CSP PM supports project acquisition and leads cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that meet customer requirements.

The CSP PM manages project scope, requirements, schedules, costs, resources, risks, changes, and communication from project acquisition through delivery. The role requires frequent customer and stakeholder interaction and balances scope, schedule, cost, quality, and business objectives.

The CSP PM also drives continuous improvement by documenting lessons learned and developing best practices for future projects.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Perform the following duties to a competent level:

Project Acquisition

  • Work with Global Product Managers, Technical Product Managers, Application Engineering, and Sales to support project acquisition.
  • Lead customer and stakeholder discussions to define functional, technical, regulatory, and commercial requirements.
  • Conduct commercial and technical feasibility assessments.
  • Support feasibility, delivery dates, cost estimates, and business case development.
  • Develop project scopes, charters, requirements, and statements of work.

Project Management

  • Own Customer Specific Projects from inquiry through delivery in accordance with the CSP stage-gate process.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, risk registers, change records, and project controls.
  • Coordinate deliverables across international Engineering, Strategic Purchasing, Sales, IT, and other functions.
  • Manage project costs, forecasts, and resource requirements.
  • Monitor project progress and deliverables against established objectives.
  • Identify and mitigate logistical, manufacturing, procurement, commissioning, and customer risks.
  • Coordinate prototyping, design reviews, factory acceptance tests, customer witness testing, product testing, and validation.
  • Consolidate technical results and translate findings into business recommendations.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations through timely communication of status, milestones, risks, decisions, and escalations.

Customer Specific Projects Department

  • Share best practices and lessons learned with CSP Project Managers across the Condair Group.
  • Lead project post-mortems and identify improvements for future projects.
  • Document new and updated processes in Work Instructions.
  • Maintain CSP Processes, Work Instructions, and ISO-related documentation.
  • Travel up to 25% within North America and internationally as required.
  • Adhere to Condair’s Quality Assurance System and Health and Safety policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Professional Skills, Qualifications, and Competencies

  • Education and Experience: Canadian-specific work experience is not required. We welcome applications from candidates with international education and professional experience. Engineering or Technical Degree. Three (3) or more years of experience in an engineering, technical marketing, or product management environment is an asset.
  • Language Skills: Excellent verbal, writing and comprehension skills in English. Demonstrates a wide degree of creativity and expressiveness with the English language. Demonstrated ability to communicate technically, in writing and verbally. Above-average written communication and editing skills. German, French, and/or other languages are considered an asset.
  • Ability to Reason: Strong planning and organization skills are required. Ability to prioritize work, set targets, and make decisions. Ability to work accurately and methodically under pressure. Familiarity with milestone-based project methodologies is an asset.
  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Jaspersoft, and/or enterprise resource planning systems (SAP) is an asset. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools. Experience with accelerating workflows using machine learning, large language model, and AI tools is an asset.
  • Math Skills: Ability to perform numerical calculations related to technical, financial, and planning topics at a post-secondary level is required.
  • Certificates/Licenses: Professional Engineering license and Certified Project Management Professional designations considered an asset. A valid and up to date passport and hte ability to travel domestically and internationally is required.
  • Other: Proven ability to work in Canada and the ability to travel abroad (USA, Europe) as required. Once probationary period is achieved, the ability to work on-site at our Ottawa location a minimum of three (3) days per week is required. Confidence presenting in front of groups.
