Successful candidates will assist with maintaining Town buildings, recreation facilities, and other municipal properties by performing cleaning, minor maintenance, and facility inspections to help ensure safe, clean, and welcoming spaces for staff and the public.

Qualifikationen

• Experience in custodial, janitorial, or facility maintenance is an asset.
• Knowledge of safe cleaning practices, MSDS, and proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to lift up to 25 kg and work outdoors/indoors in varying weather.
• Criminal Record Check required.
• Valid driver’s licence.

Aufgaben

• Perform routine cleaning of Town buildings and facilities, including floors, restrooms, and waste removal.
• Restock supplies and maintain organized storage areas.
• Conduct regular facility inspections and report maintenance concerns or safety hazards.
• Perform minor repairs such as bulb changing and door hardware adjustments.
• Open/secure facilities and operate basic security measures where required.
• Assist with seasonal duties like snow shoveling and salting entrances.
• Maintain maintenance logs and inspection records.
• Support staff, contractors, and facility users while maintaining a safe environment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform routine cleaning of Town buildings and facilities, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, restroom cleaning, and waste removal
• Restock washrooms and cleaning supplies and maintain organized supply areas
• Conduct regular facility inspections and report maintenance concerns or safety hazards
• Perform minor building repairs such as changing light bulbs, replacing door hardware, and addressing small maintenance issues
• Open and secure Town facilities, including locking/unlocking buildings and operating security systems where required
• Assist with seasonal duties such as snow shoveling and salting entrances
• Complete maintenance logs, inspection records, and other required documentation
• Support departmental staff, contractors, and facility users while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment
• Perform other related duties as assigned

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• Experience in custodial, janitorial, or facility maintenance work is considered an asset
• Knowledge of safe cleaning practices, cleaning equipment, chemicals, and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Ability to identify maintenance issues and exercise sound judgment when escalating concerns
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 25 kg and working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Commitment to workplace health and safety practices
• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent

• Valid driver’s licence
