The Salvation Army in Fort St. John, BC is seeking a Custodian to maintain cleanliness of the facility, grounds, and surrounding property, performing minor repairs and providing access as needed.
Working Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, you will handle duties such as cleaning floors and washrooms, mowing lawns, snow removal, and basic maintenance; safety and confidentiality are valued.

The Custodian maintains the cleanliness of the facility, property and/or grounds of in compliance with applicable standards. The incumbent makes minor repairs and provides access to the facility as required. LOCATION: Community and Family Services/Thrift Store/Northern Centre of Hope in Fort St. John. Schedule - Monday-Friday (8:00 AM - 2:30 PM)

Typical working location for this position is in the entire facility and property designated. The performance of the job requires industrial cleaning equipment and tools, mopping/sweeping, bending/twisting/lifting, occasional ladder work and fine motor skills. The incumbent is required to lift more than 20 pounds and applying over 40 lbs. force. The performance of the job requires moderate to high attention when using motorized equipment, handling hazardous chemicals, using non-motorized/general cleaning supplies, adhering to safety procedures and regulations and occasionally ordering supplies.

Skills and Capabilities: Attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills. Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility. Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Register) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
The salary range is based on the Collective Agreement, not any other factors. The target hiring range for this position is $23.28 to $23.66 with a maximum of $24.03. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
