Job summary

ESS Compass is seeking a Custodian/Janitor for the Coeur Silvertip Mine near Dease Lake, BC. The role involves maintaining clean facilities and performing heavy cleaning tasks to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

The position requires 1 year of housekeeping experience, 2 years of floor stripping/waxing, and proficiency in English. Wages are CAD 20–20.50 per hour, with travel and accommodations provided and benefits after 3 months.

Description

As the Custodian/Janitor you will be responsible for keeping buildings clean and orderly, and performing heavy cleaning duties, including cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Stripping and wax floors
• Collect and dispose of trash following approved procedures and infection control plans
• Dust and damp mops floors following approved procedures
• Move equipment and furniture for proper cleaning and place furniture back in correct placement
• Clean assigned areas with the use of assigned materials and equipment. Sanitize all surfaces.
• Wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and other items to maintain a clean, safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff
• Seek out areas requiring cleaning; take initiative to complete the task
• Complete all tasks assigned by supervisor
• Strip, scrub, buff and refinish floors, shampoo carpet

Qualifications:

• 1 year of housekeeping/custodian experience
• 2 years' experience, stripping and waxing of floors
• WHMIS and BSW Certifications an asset
• Good command of English language, both verbal and written
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Physical ability to perform all aspects of the job

Position Requirements:

• A full and valid Driver's License
• Pass a Drug & Alcohol Test
• Shift: 12hr/Day
• Rotation: 14 Days On/14 Days Off
