Job summary

Propak Systems Ltd. in Alberta is seeking a dedicated Custodian to keep office buildings, shops and warehouses neat, safe and well maintained. You will perform routine cleaning, sanitize restrooms, manage waste, and support on-site facility needs.

Qualifications

• Experience with cleaning equipment and supplies is an asset.
• Experience handling basic maintenance repairs is an asset.
• Must sign Drug-Free Workplace Agreement, Conflict of Interest Agreement, and Confidentiality and Invention Agreement.

Responsibilities

• Report on time and fit for duty.
• Participate in daily toolbox meetings.
• Clean and disinfect common areas, including printer rooms, conference rooms, washrooms, change/locker rooms, kitchen/coffee areas, vending machine, staircases, electronic items.
• Carry out heavy cleaning tasks and special projects.
• Disinfect high-touch surfaces on a set schedule.
• Under direct supervision, may operate basic hand and power tools.
• Clean work areas and equipment.
• Perform routine laboring and basic activities.
• Use cleaning supplies and equipment to keep the interior of the office building looking clean and professional.
• Adhere to the company’s safety policies to create a safe work environment for everyone.
• Perform routing cleaning tasks based on a schedule created by the facility management team.
• Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by tidying furniture and dusting surfaces.
• Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets.
• Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and showers and restock disposables (e.g. soap).
• Wipe mirrors and windows.
• Maintain outer premises by watering plants, mowing lawn, cleaning entrances.
• Perform maintenance and minor repairs (fixing door handles, minor leaks etc.).
• Secure facilities after operating hours by locking doors, closing windows and setting up the alarm.
• Undertake custodial and janitorial tasks (shoveling snow from the sidewalk, lifting heavy items, moving chairs etc.).
• Ensuring equipment and lights are switched off, and premises are locked after hours.
• Collaborating with contract cleaning services.
