Job description

Help Tell the Stories That Strengthen Our Community

Potentia Human Resources is proud to be leading the search for a creative, strategic and passionate Community Impact & Communications Strategist for the Central Okanagan Foundation. This is an in-person, in office role, working with a small team of fantastic values based humans who are dedicated to connecting people who care with causes that matter, helping build stronger communities through philanthropy, granting, scholarships, and community leadership. As one of Canada's community foundations, the COF works alongside donors, charities, businesses, governments, and community partners to invest in initiatives that create lasting impact across the Central Okanagan since 1979.

This newly created role offers a rare opportunity to build the COF's communications strategy from the ground up, modernize its brand, strengthen donor engagement, and share the inspiring stories of the people and organizations making a difference throughout our community.

If you're an exceptional storyteller who enjoys combining strategy with hands‑on execution and wants your work to have a lasting impact, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing:

As the COF’s first dedicated Community Impact & Communications Strategist, you'll have the unique opportunity to build their communications strategy from the ground up while helping modernize the COF's brand and strengthen community engagement.

Reporting to the Manager, Community Impact & Philanthropy, you'll develop compelling campaigns that inspire giving, celebrate community impact, increase awareness, and support fundraising initiatives. From storytelling and digital marketing to brand development, media relations, and events, you'll play a central role in shaping how the COF connects with their community.

The COF is looking for someone who thinks beyond creating attractive marketing materials. They want someone who understands that great marketing inspires action, builds relationships, and delivers measurable results.

  • Strengthen and modernize the COF's brand across all platforms
  • Create compelling stories highlighting donor impact, charities, scholarships, and community initiatives
  • Write engaging content for newsletters, annual reports, website, blogs, donor communications, speeches, and media releases
  • Manage and grow the COF's website and digital presence
  • Plan and execute social media and digital marketing campaigns
  • Develop email marketing campaigns and donor communications
  • Design brochures, reports, presentations, advertisements, and promotional materials
  • Produce photography, video, and visual storytelling content for events and campaigns
  • Build relationships with local media and coordinate public relations opportunities
  • Support fundraising initiatives including Giving Tuesday, year-end campaigns, and donor stewardship
  • Coordinate marketing for COF events and community initiatives
  • Monitor marketing analytics and campaign performance to drive continuous improvement
  • Maintain editorial calendars, digital assets, and brand standards
  • Collaborate closely with leadership, philanthropy, grants, and community partners to communicate the COF's impact

  • Experience with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp
  • Familiarity with Canva, Google Analytics, SEO, and marketing analytics
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
