Job summary

The Glencoe Club in Calgary invites applications for seasonal, part-time Curling Instructors for the 2026/2027 Fall and Winter Seasons. You will deliver engaging programs, introduce fundamentals, and foster teamwork and sportsmanship.

Join a supportive team, work with experienced instructors, and help grow a community of curling enthusiasts. Curling knowledge and the ability to coach groups are essential; first aid/CPR are assets.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated curling experience and knowledge of rules, techniques, and equipment.
  • Experience coaching or instructing groups in recreational settings is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills across ages.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality curling programs including Junior Curling and Getting Started lessons.
  • Provide clear feedback to help improve technique and understanding of curling.
  • Assist in planning drills and sessions; communicate with members and staff.
  • Monitor safety and enforce facility rules and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the Curling team to improve content and delivery.
  • Maintain and set up equipment and curling areas before/after sessions.
  • Ensure compliance with Glencoe Health and Safety standards and OH&S rules.

We are seeking part-time Curling Instructors to join our Curling team for the 2026/2027 Fall and Winter Seasons. As a Curling Instructor, you will play a vital role in delivering engaging recreational programs that introduce participants to the fundamentals of curling while fostering teamwork and sportsmanship. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with experienced instructors and contribute to a growing community of curling enthusiasts at the Glencoe Club. Responsibilities
  • Provide service and instruction excellence to members and guests through the delivery of high-quality programs, activities and services including our ‘Junior Curling’ and ‘Getting Started’ programs, and private lessons
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to participants to help improve their technique and understanding of the game
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of curling lessons, drills, and practice sessions and help to ensure timely and effective communication between members, staff and your team
  • Monitor participant safety and enforce facility rules and guidelines
  • Actively collaborate with the Curling team to continuously improve program content and delivery
  • Ensure all equipment and curling areas are properly maintained and set up before and after sessions
  • Ensure compliance with all Glencoe Health and Safety standards and the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety regulations
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in curling including a strong knowledge of rules, techniques, and equipment
  • Previous experience in coaching, instructing, or working with groups in a recreational or sports setting is preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage participants of different ages and skill sets
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, to execute exceptional service to our members
  • Experience in delivering fun and engaging activities while demonstrating high standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity
  • Patience with young members
  • First Aid and CPR certification is considered an asset

These are Seasonal, part-time positions that report to the Curling Director. Successful candidates may be required to work a variety of shifts including weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays, so a flexible schedule is required.

The successful applicant will be required to complete a background check as well as Respect in the Workplace, and Respect in Sport online certifications prior to commencing employment.
