Job summary

Qualifications

• Requirements include a B.A. Sc. in Chemical Engineering or equivalent, with familiarity or willingness to learn Aspen HYSYS.
• Experience using Aspen HYSYS and Microsoft Visio for PFD/BFD/P&ID creation.
• Familiarity with design calculations for common chemical engineering unit operations (heat exchangers, distillation, reactors).

Responsibilities

• Proctoring/monitring exams and supervising laboratory sessions.
• Assist with grading design reports and supporting student work.
• Coordinate with students and supervising professor regarding course logistics and deliverables.

Compensation

Hourly Rate: AE-RA-Tuteur / TA-RA-Tutor : $33.83 ou/ou $53.31 (Sept. 2026 - Aug. 2027) Undergraduate students will be paid at the lower rate; while graduate students will be paid at the higher rate. These rates do not include vacation pay nor statutory pay.

Requirements (Faculty) : B.A. Sc. In Chemical Engineering or the equivalent, being familiar with Hysis package or willing to learn it. Additional Notes: Mandatory qualifications Experience using Aspen HYSYS Experience using Microsoft Visio for BFD, PFD, and P&ID creation Chemical engineering (or equivalent) undergraduate degree having completed a capstone design project Familiarity with design calculations for common chemical engineering unit operations (heat exchangers, distillation, absorption, reactors, etc.) Asset qualifications Experience advising groups Experience grading design reports Comments: Please note that the teaching method will be on the main campus for the Winter session.

Instruction Method & Session Details

The method of instruction for this course will be delivered in person. This assignment will take place on campus in Ottawa from January 1st to April 30, 2027, with no exceptions. Any deviation will only be considered in the event of an emergency and must receive prior approval from the department.
