Reporting to the Program Managers, the Cultural and Land-Based Learning Support Worker is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and delivery of cultural and land-based programming across the Mental Health Department.
DUTIES
- Assist in planning, organizing, and delivering cultural and land-based learning activities, including: hunting, fishing, trapping;
- medicine gathering and traditional harvesting;
- gardening and food sovereignty initiatives, outdoor survival skills and seasonal teachings, cultural teachings, ceremonies, and storytelling
- Support programming that integrates: Indigenous language, ceremony and protocols, traditional knowledge and teachings and holistic wellness approaches
- Assist Elders and Knowledge Keepers in facilitating teachings and activities
- Support integration of cultural and land-based practices into mental health programming, addictions recovery supports, and prevention and family programming
- Maintain accurate records of program participation, activities and sessions delivered, resource and equipment use
- Provide updates and reports to Program Managers
- Participate in cross-functional planning and coordination
- Attend team meetings, planning sessions, and training opportunities
- Promote respect for the land and traditional environmental practices and ensure all activities follow safety protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Relevant experience in Indigenous cultural practices, land-based learning, or community programming
- Experience working with Indigenous communities, youth and families, and cultural or land-based programming
- Ability to work outdoors in all seasons positive and healthy lifestyle
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills good interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Must possess a current driver's license valid in Saskatchewan, work flexible hours that may include evenings or weekends.
