Job description

The Credit & Collections Specialist is responsible for effectively administering the Company’s Credit Policy, directly impacting corporate profitability. The ideal candidate should possess strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy in investigations, analysis, and reporting. Success in this role is measured through KPIs, excellent customer service, proactive team contributions, and alignment with the Company’s goals.

Responsibilities:
  1. Manage collections, dispute resolution, order release, and credit investigations for a diverse customer base.
  2. Contact customers to secure payments, follow up on overdue balances, and resolve issues.
  3. Maintain detailed online documentation of collection activities and correspondence using Sidetrade software.
  4. Research and analyze accounts, including payment habits, sales history, and previous collection efforts.
  5. Prioritize collection efforts and determine the most effective strategies.
  6. Manage assigned portfolios to reduce DSO and past dues, providing updates and reports to management.
  7. Recommend legal or third-party actions when necessary, considering the debtor’s financial position and potential risks.
  8. Evaluate and recommend credit limits based on customer profiles, credit reports, payment history, and financial status.
  9. Review and release blocked orders, setting parameters for automatic credit approvals while mitigating risks.
  10. Collaborate with internal departments to resolve customer issues related to orders, delivery, and project fulfillment.
  11. Reconcile customer accounts, request adjustments, and maintain accurate transaction records.
  12. Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers.
Requirements:
  1. 1-3 years of experience in a similar role within a B2B distribution environment.
  2. Bilingual in English and French is an asset.
  3. Proficiency in Excel and Office 365 recommended.
  4. Familiarity with AS400 ERP and Sidetrade is an asset.
  5. Experience with Ariba, Retail Link, or similar portals is an asset.
