Job Description

Our client is seeking a self-motivated Associate to join their dynamic and growing team on the debt side in Toronto. They are a commercial real estate capital provider with mortgage investments across all real estate asset classes in Canada. Their equity platform is an opportunistic equity platform focused on investments in ground-up and value-add projects in Canada and the United States.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct due diligence and investigation to understand the borrower’s profile, analyze financial data, assess asset value, and underwrite and fund commercial mortgage transactions.
  • Prepare prequalification summaries, term sheets, credit presentations, commitment letters, buy sheets, gather and review conditions precedent and legal documents to fund loans within tight deadlines.
  • Maintain ongoing interaction with clients, including site visits and internal credit committee meetings, to ensure thorough underwriting and funding of loans.
  • Stay current with market information and trends in the commercial mortgage market.
  • Build a network within the industry through meetings, events, and involvement in real estate trade organizations.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in business or a related field.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in underwriting in Commercial Real Estate or co-op experience in real estate or underwriting.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, contribute to team goals, and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Passion for real estate and an understanding of financial analysis.

Job Type: Full-time, initially remote with eventual in-office work.
