Job summary

Mr. X Inc. is a Toronto-based creative production studio with in-house Art, Creature, Editorial and Visual Effects Departments. We collaborate with top directors and filmmakers to develop projects from concept to completion, offering a modern, safe working environment with options for work-from-home, in-studio, or hybrid setups.

We seek a seasoned 3D artist to concept, design, and implement characters and creatures, build pipelines, mentor peers, and ensure consistent art style across outputs.

Qualifications

• 5+ yrs experience as a 3D artist.
• Strong proficiency in modeling and texturing 3D characters and creatures.
• Experience with industry-standard tools: ZBrush, Maya, Photoshop, Mari, Substance Painter/Designer.
• A portfolio showing both personal style and consistency.
• Ability to work in a team and independently.

Responsibilities

• Concepting, designing, creating, and implementing characters and creatures.
• Model and texture 3D assets, maintaining consistent art style.
• Build and maintain a 3D character art pipeline.
• Own the technical requirements for 3D art.
• Set guidelines and best practices for other artists.

Job description

Mr. X is a creative production studio, complete with in-house Art, Creature, Editorial, and Visual Effects Departments. We collaborate with A-list directors, production teams, and filmmakers to develop projects from conception to completion. We embrace innovative approaches to design and workflows, where the artist is encouraged to run with their ideas and inspiration. Embedded in this effort is support for one another in the moments that matter, both inside and outside the workplace.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Concepting, designing, creating, and implementing characters and creatures.
• Model and texture the corresponding 3D assets, maintaining the quality and art style consistent across the project. If required, find elegant solutions that bridge over stylistic gaps between 2D Concept Art & final 3D
• Help build and maintain a 3D character art pipeline, improving it where possible
• Take ownership of the technical requirements for your 3D art
• Help set guidelines and best practices for other artists going forward
• Maintain, alter or update models as required by client and/or supervisor feedback
• Mentor and motivate fellow artists to grow their craft using the latest techniques

REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ yrs experience as a 3D artist
• Strong proficiency in modeling and texturing 3D characters and creatures
• Strong proficiency in industry-standard 3D modeling and texturing software (e.g. ZBrush, Maya, Photoshop, Mari, Substance Painter/Designer)
• A portfolio that shows you are able to create with both personal style and consistency
• Ability to work in a team and independently
• Desire to learn new technologies and design techniques
