RailWorks is seeking an Assistant Foreman to help manage a crew on our rail maintenance project in Ontario. Reporting to the Foreman and Superintendent, you will help deliver safety, quality, and schedule targets while ensuring customer satisfaction.
The role requires hands-on leadership, track and turnout knowledge, and the ability to coordinate resources across trades. Occasional shifts outdoors, with emphasis on safety and communication.

Reporting to the Foreman and Superintendent, the Assistant Foremanassistsin managing and directing a crew of workers to deliver a successful project by meeting or exceeding corporate and project goals for safety, quality, profitability, and schedule resulting in extreme customer satisfaction

Repair and/or replace turnout components as needed, such as switch points, frogs,platesetc.
Repair and/or replace track components as needed, such as rail, ties, plates, spikes, timbercrossingsetc.
Observes conditions of track, track beds, and track right-of-way to detect, report and repair problems or defects
Responsiblyoperatescompany vehicles and/or equipment and ensures all daily maintenance and inspections of the units are completed
Performs special duties as assigned by the Track Maintenance Foreman
Performs any administrative duties related to proper documentation as per PNR Quality Management System
Supports the Track Maintenance Foreman to ensure that proper resources are in place for thetimelycompletion of work, including labor, tools,equipmentand material.
Maintains a dedication to safety at all times by modeling, providing education and enforcing safe work practices and company policies and procedures.
Ensures that proper safety equipment is available and used by all field personnel.
Trains andmotivatesworkers.
A minimum of 3 years related experience in the construction industry.
Knowledge of all aspects of track construction and maintenance.
Ability to read and understand project specific documents including schedules, standard railwayplansand specifications.
Ability to understand and efficiently carry out instructions.
Ability to supervise the work of others and clearly communicate instructions to crew.
Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work being performed.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Works outdoors at construction sites.
Frequently stands, walks, climbs, balances, lifts, bends, and moves objects up to 50 pounds.
Exposed to all weather conditions includingvery hotand verycold weather.
Exposed to loud noise.
Exposed to live track/trains and high voltage.
Ability to work rotating shifts
