Job summary

PNR RailWorks is seeking an Assistant Foreman to help manage a crew on railway track projects. You will report to the Foreman and Superintendent, directing crews to meet safety, quality, profitability, and schedule goals to maximize customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities include supervising workers, repairing turnout and track components, ensuring equipment readiness, and maintaining proper documentation per the Quality Management System.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years related experience in the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of track construction and maintenance.
  • Ability to read and understand project specific documents including schedules, standard railway plans and specifications.
  • Ability to understand and efficiently carry out instructions.
  • Ability to supervise the work of others and clearly communicate instructions to crew.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work being performed.
  • Strong client relation skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Repair and/or replace turnout components as needed, such as switch points, frogs, plates, etc.
  • Repair and/or replace track components as needed, such as rail, ties, plates, spikes, timber crossings, etc.
  • Observes conditions of track, track beds, and track right-of-way to detect, report and repair problems or defects.
  • Operates company vehicles and/or equipment and ensures daily maintenance and inspections are completed.
  • Performs special duties as assigned by the Track Maintenance Foreman.
  • Performs administrative duties related to proper documentation as per PNR Quality Management System.
  • Supports the Track Maintenance Foreman to ensure proper resources are in place for timely completion of work.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Foreman and Superintendent, the Assistant Foreman assists in managing and directing a crew of workers to deliver a successful project by meeting or exceeding corporate and project goals for safety, quality, profitability, and schedule resulting in extreme customer satisfaction

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Required Skills and Qualifications

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Works outdoors at construction sites.
  • Frequently stands, walks, climbs, balances, lifts, bends, and moves objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposed to all weather conditions includingvery hotand verycold weather.
  • Exposed to loud noise.
  • Exposed to live track/trains and high voltage.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts
