The Role

These individuals are expected to apply both their formal education and in-house training in practical settings. Staff accountants have a high level of perseverance, integrity, honesty and self-accountability as you are in a period of intensive learning where your formal education is enhanced through practical application.

Responsibilities include reviewing system summaries and engagement scoping documents, completing walkthroughs, and preparing quality working papers for compilations, review engagements, and audits.

Staff Accountants assist in analyzing and documenting internal controls and organizational structures for larger audits and may test assigned sections. They are involved in preparing T2 only returns, compilations and moderate to difficult T1 returns.

Throughout all engagements, they are expected to maintain timely and effective communication with the engagement lead, ensure working papers are clear and properly signed off, and complete all necessary checklists and queries. Client interaction is generally limited to basic communications, with increased responsibility and independence as experience grows.
