Job summary

Crowe MacKay LLP Canada in Vancouver is seeking a Manager to join our growing team. You will report to the Partners and guide staff on accounting and assurance engagements, with a focus on compilations and reviews.

  • CPA designation and 3+ years post-designation public practice experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and ASPE; tax knowledge for corporations and individuals.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentorship abilities.
  • Excellent working knowledge of accounting standards and analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of accounting and assurance services, especially compilations and reviews.
  • Adhere to quality control and professional standards, applying GAAP/ASPE knowledge to engagements.
  • Deliver complete work to Senior Manager or Partner on a timely basis and respond to client questions.
  • Mentor and coach staff; manage client relationships and portfolios; seek new work.
  • Undertake tax research with guidance from senior specialists and document filing positions.

The Role
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of the fundamentals of accounting and assurance services, particularly Compilations and Review Engagements;
  • Understand and adhere to the firms quality control manual.
  • Adhere to relevant professional standards and apply growing knowledge of GAAP and ASPE to engagements.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian taxation for corporations and individuals.
  • Deliver complete product to the Senior Manager or Partner on a timely basis.
  • Respond to client questions and queries.
  • Delegate tasks to all levels of staff.
  • Providing guidance and training for staff members to enhance their career development within the firm.
  • Responsible for managing client relationships, winning new work and managing quality of work completed.
  • Responsible for managing client portfolios.
  • Mentor and coach senior and staff accountants.
  • Undertaking tax research with guidance from senior specialists.
  • Identify and document tax filing positions, including risk analysis.
  • Prepare internal and external client correspondence.

Maintain compliance with the professional development requirements of applicable professional designation(s).

What You Will Bring
  • Professional designation CPA (or legacy CA, CMA, CGA).
  • 3+ years post designation public practice experience.
  • Prior experience in the industries our firm currently supports considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentorship abilities.
  • Excellent working knowledge of accounting standards.
  • Excellent analytical & problem solving skills.
  • An innovative thinker, comfortable in a team and client-focused environment.

  • Knowledge of CaseWare, CaseView, TaxPrep and Microsoft Office considered an asset.
