Express Employment Professionals Halifax is seeking an Accounting Manager (CPA) to lead audit and financial statement engagements for a diverse client base in Halifax, Canada. The role emphasizes mentorship of junior staff, high-quality tax and financial services, and independent work within a client-focused CPA firm.

The ideal candidate holds a university degree in commerce or accounting, 2+ years in public practice, and strong GAAP/tax knowledge.

University degree in Commerce or Accounting is required.
Minimum 2+ years of experience in a public accounting firm.
Strong experience preparing financial statements and tax returns.
Solid understanding of GAAP, tax legislation, and assurance standards.

Mansioni

Prepare and review audit and review engagements and non‑assurance financial statements with appropriate disclosures.
Prepare and review corporate (T2), personal (T1), and other tax returns (T3, T4, T5, etc.).
Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP, tax legislation, and professional standards.
Review working paper files and provide detailed review notes for quality control purposes.
Mentor and support junior staff in file preparation and use of software such as Caseware and Sage.
Provide advisory support to clients on tax, payroll, CRA matters, and general business inquiries.
Assist with practice management functions, including monitoring updates to CPA standards and tax rules.
Participate in client meetings and occasional local travel as required.
