Job summary

Torus Talent is seeking a Senior Project Cost Control Specialist for a FIFO site-based role near Kamloops, BC. You will lead cost control systems, reporting, and governance across the capital project execution phase, ensuring best practices and corporate standards are applied.

Responsibilities include budgeting, forecasting, change control, and coordination with accounting and finance teams to support capitalization and financial reporting. Strong field experience and PM knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in engineering, accounting, finance, business, or skilled trade
  • Minimum 10 years of project cost control experience on large-scale mining/industrial capital projects
  • Significant Owner’s organization experience with 3+ years in that capacity
  • Minimum 1 year of field/site-based experience
  • Strong knowledge of PM principles and project controls methodologies
  • Familiarity with project lifecycle stages from studies to execution
  • Proficient in cost control systems such as Unifier, PRISM, Cleopatra
  • Experience with scheduling tools like Primavera P6 or MS Project
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, P.Eng., AScT, CCP, CEP, or PMP are assets

Responsibilities

  • Act as a safety leader by promoting safety and environmental standards
  • Develop and execute project cost control strategies
  • Develop and review cost control management plans with internal teams and service providers
  • Prepare and apply project-specific procedures according to the Project Procedures Manual
  • Ensure corporate cost control standards are applied across all project phases
  • Manage the project budget, accruals, and cost data using cost management systems
  • Align WBS, COA, and cost elements for consistency
  • Review invoices for scope accuracy and cost compliance
  • Support ARs development with cost summaries and cash flow visuals
  • Develop and maintain project cost forecasts and cash flow data
  • Implement cost change management and forecasting to assess impacts
  • Develop and maintain commitment, incurred cost, and cash flow data
  • Apply earned value and productivity measurement for performance analysis
  • Lead the development of the project contingency strategy
  • Prepare monthly cost reports and presentations for stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Project Accounting and Finance for capitalization and reporting
  • Archive key cost control documents for corporate database

Location: Fly-in/Fly-out (FIFO) rotation to Kamloops, BC

Reports to: Manager, Cost Control (Functional Reporting Line)


Our large enterprise mining client is seeking a Senior Project Cost Control Specialist to support the successful delivery of a major capital project currently in the execution phase near Kamloops, British Columbia. This role is site-based and operates on a fly-in fly-out (FIFO) shift rotation schedule, providing direct support to the construction team during a critical phase of the project lifecycle

.As a key member of the Project Controls team, the successful candidate will be accountable for the planning, implementation, and ongoing management of project cost control systems, processes, and reporting. This role ensures cost control standards are rigorously applied throughout all project phases, aligning with the organization’s overall project controls framework

Key Responsibiliti
