Job summary

Government of Yukon, Department of Justice, seeks a Cook Supervisor for Whitehorse Corrections Centre. You will prepare meals and supervise cooks, upholding sanitation and safety standards in a secure kitchen.

Reporting to the Deputy Superintendent, Administration, you’ll manage menu planning, training, and daily operations. This permanent, full-time role requires Red Seal certification and strong teamwork and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Cook Certification (Red Seal) or equivalent.
• Experience in menu planning.
• Experience in a commercial or institutional food service setting.
• Experience supervising people involved in food preparations.
• Experience with dietary needs including medical and spiritual diets.
• Experience preparing Yukon First Nation meals is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals for the facility and supervise corrections and inmate cooks.
• Provide meals at the Whitehorse Correctional Centre, including special occasions.
• Maintain a high standard of sanitation and safety in the kitchen.
• Report to the Deputy Superintendent, Administration and manage daily kitchen operations.
