Job summary

The Ontario Public Service is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse to join the Central East Correctional Centre health care team. You will work within an inter-professional group to develop, implement and evaluate patient care plans, performing health assessments, triage, emergency care and transitional care for patients in custody.

Candidates must be in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario, address emergencies, and work rotating shifts in a 7-day-a-week unit.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Ability to provide full scope of nursing services for complex health care needs.
• Ability to collect, interpret and evaluate health information for comprehensive assessments.
• Develop, evaluate and modify treatment and care plans in collaboration with the team.
• Respond to emergency situations with appropriate interventions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct health assessments for triage and ongoing care.
• Advocate patient participation in plans of care.
• Monitor treatment plans and responses to interventions.
• Communicate with community care providers for health histories and transitional care.
• Contribute to health program development within the institution.
• Provide emergency, acute care, crisis intervention, health teaching and counselling.
• Adhere to professional standards, legislation and institutional security requirements.
