Job summary

Definity is seeking a Corporate Underwriting Co-op for Winter 2027. You will support the Commercial Insurance Corporate Underwriting team, gain exposure to guidelines, wordings, risk assessment, and governance initiatives, while collaborating with multiple business partners.

This is a hybrid, paid co-op with meaningful work and real-life experience. The role emphasizes analytical thinking, attention to detail, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Risk Management or related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with interest in business performance and risk.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with underwriting research, data gathering, and analysis to support decision-making and initiatives.
• Support the review and maintenance of underwriting guidelines, wordings, procedures, and documentation.
• Compile reports and assist with underwriting governance activities.
• Collaborate with underwriting, product, operations, and other partners on projects and process improvements.
• Support presentations, training materials, and communication documents for underwriting teams.
• Conduct market research and competitive analysis as required.
• Participate in special projects and other administrative duties assigned by the team.

What you’ll be doing:

As a Corporate Underwriting Co-op, you'll support the Commercial Insurance Corporate Underwriting team in maintaining underwriting excellence across the organization. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

The hourly compensation for the role starts at $22.50 per hour and will increase based on factors including but not limited to, skills, education, experience, and the recommended rates as set by the respective educational institution.
