Corporate Tax and Estate Administration Legal Assistant

Our Client is home to a team that values collaboration, professionalism, and service. They are looking for a Legal Assistant to support two Senior Lawyers whose practices encompass corporate tax and estates administration. This role involves a mix of legal administrative work and client interaction, including liaising with high-profile individuals who appreciate attention to detail and a thoughtful approach. Salary: Up to $85K + Benefits

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist with preparation of correspondence and legal documents relating to areas of taxation and estate planning including complex wills, family trusts and estate administration;
  2. Ensure time-sensitive documents are managed effectively;
  3. Organize, open, manage and close client files;
  4. Prepare reports – estate planning and corporate reorganizations;
  5. Entering dockets and processing monthly accounts;
  6. Maintain tickler systems to monitor key dates for task management;
  7. Schedule meetings and co-ordinate appointments as required ensuring the lawyer’s calendar is up-to-date, including adding events, rescheduling appointments and providing daily briefings;
  8. Acting as a point of contact for incoming and outgoing communications including phone calls, emails, and documents for clients and vendors;
  9. Planning and organizing internal firm events, such as lawyer events and client events;
  10. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Successful completion of a Legal Assistant program at a recognized community college;
  2. Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a law firm or in professional services within Tax and Estates;
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and Outlook);
  4. Working knowledge of Adobe/Kofax PDF, DocuSign, Workshare Compare, Closing Folders, CorpLink and Carpe Diem;
  5. Experience working with a document management system, e.g., iManage;
  6. Possess well-developed organizational and time management skills in order to manage multiple priorities with ease in order to meet tight deadlines;
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills help you to build relationships and provide excellent client service;
  8. As a confident self-starter, you work well both independently, and in a team environment;
  9. Operate with a high degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail;
  10. Show good judgment, discretion and respond well to constructive feedback.
