Job summary

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a qualified Core Logging Geologist to join the Lalor Mine Geology team in Snow Lake, MB. This term position runs from January to December with 14 days on, 14 days off.

A fully equipped camp is provided, and transport to Snow Lake is the employee's responsibility. The role involves core logging, ore interpretation data collection, and collaboration with the drill contractors. Education in geological sciences and GIT/EIT status are preferred, with office software

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Geological Sciences or Geological Engineering.
• Geologist in Training (GIT) or Engineer in Training (EIT).
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Google Sheets.
• MineSight, Deswik, Leapfrog or AcQuire familiarity is an asset but not required.
• Previous core logging and underground experience is an asset but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide geological services (core logging) to Lalor Mine’s operations for the mining plan.
• Follow departmental safety program and maintain safety standards.
• Geological logging and sampling of diamond drill core.
• Liaise with Diamond drilling Contractor supervision.
• Collect geological data for ore interpretation and reserve/resource calculations.
• Communicate changes in ore interpretation to geology department.
• Carry out accountabilities as assigned by the Senior Mine Geologist.
• Frequent lifting up to 34 kg to waist is required.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking 1 qualified Core Logging Geologist to work with our Lalor Mine Geology team in the vibrant community of Snow Lake, MB. This is a term position from January until December.

***Please note this is not a “fly-in-fly-out” opportunity

Schedule & Work Arrangements:

• 14 days on/14 days off. Please note this is not a FIFO opportunity, employees are responsible for their own transportation to and from Snow Lake. To support you, we offer a fully equipped camp.

• Geological logging and sampling of diamond drill core

• Carry out specific accountabilities as assigned by the Senior Mine Geologist.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education & Background
• Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Sciences or Geological Engineering
• Geologist in Training (GIT) or Engineer in Training (EIT)
• Experienced with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Google Sheets
• Familiar with MineSight, Deswik, Leapfrog or AcQuire is an asset but not required
• Previous core logging and underground experience is an asset but not required

Compensation:

• Base Rate - $45.64hr.
