Job summary

St. Joseph’s Health System (SJHS) is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to support HRLMP across Charlton, King and West 5th campuses. The role involves phlebotomy, specimen handling, LIS registration and routine lab tasks under supervision of an MLT.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 education or recognized equivalent.
• OSMT Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant Certificate.
• Data entry and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens including phlebotomy.
• Perform patient procedures such as ECG Holter Monitor.
• Maintain competence in receiving, handling, processing, labeling and dispatch of specimens for testing.
• Register and accession using LIS.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment per HRLMP procedures.
• Participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement activities.
