Job summary

Kinross Gold Corporation is seeking a Core Cutter for the Great Bear project based in Red Lake, Ontario. The role supports the geology team under the Chief Geologist, performing core box handling, cutting, sampling, and maintaining equipment to ensure safe, efficient operations.

Working in a hard-working, team-focused environment, you will operate in weather-conditioned conditions with safety first, and a schedule of 8 days on, 6 off.

Qualifications

• A minimum of Grade 12, or GED is required.

Responsibilities

• Organize & lift core boxes.
• Check for errors, cut core as per proper procedure.
• Maintain all core cutting equipment.
• Maintain good housekeeping at all times.
• Grab sampling, as required.
• Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation, and commitment to satisfy our operation's goal of being accident-free.
• Support a work environment that is aligned with Kinross' Safeground principles.
• Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements.
• Adhere to all relevant Great Bear policies and procedures.

The Great Bear project is a development-stage asset located in the renowned and prolific Red Lake mining district, and represents one of the most exciting recent gold discoveries globally. The project has excellent potential to become a top-tier deposit that could support a large, long-life mine complex. Kinross' comprehensive exploration and development program will aim to support the vision of a quality, high-grade, open-pit mine and a longer-term, sizeable underground mine.

Job Summary

Under the guidance of the Chief Geologist, Core Cutters are positive, hardworking, team players who are responsible for supporting the Geology team.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Organize & lift core boxes.
• Check for errors, cut core as per proper procedure.
• Maintain all core cutting equipment.
• Maintain good housekeeping at all times.
• Grab sampling, as required.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

A minimum of Grade 12, or GED is required.

• Candidate must be able to frequently lift upwards of 50lbs.
• Previous core cutting experience is an asset.
• Computer skills, specifically working with Microsoft Office is an asset.
• Ability to work outside and in inclement weather when required.

Work Conditions

This position is based in Red Lake, Ontario. The schedule for this position is 8X6.

Compensation and Total Rewards

The hourly range for a Core Cutter is $32.00 + Quarterly Bonus, + Group Benefit Coverage.
