The University of Toronto’s Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education seeks a Coordinator, Sports Equipment and Apparel to manage the ordering, distribution and quality of athletic gear for coaches, athletes and staff.

Reporting to the Director and Assistant Manager, you will coordinate quotations, issue purchase orders, ensure branding standards, handle equipment maintenance and safety compliance while delivering timely, accuracy-driven service across campus operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, Business or Athletic Administration or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Three years relevant experience in sport and recreation with large equipment inventories and minor repairs.
  • Three years coordinating and distributing large sports equipment and apparel orders.
  • Three years purchasing sports equipment and apparel.

Responsibilities

  • Liaising with internal and external contacts to facilitate purchasing by obtaining quotations and issuing purchase orders.
  • Verifying branded merchandise meets University and Faculty branding standards.
  • Receiving, sorting and distributing apparel, uniforms and equipment following procedures.
  • Fitting sports equipment using established standards.
  • Coordinating routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Handling minor equipment repairs and troubleshooting maintenance requests.
  • Providing safety training and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Fostering cooperative relationships with varied internal and external contacts.

Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Interuniversity and High Performance Athletics and taking day-to-day direction from the Assistant Manager, Sports Equipment and Apparel, the Coordinator, Sports Equipment and Apparel will be responsible for coordinating the ordering and distributing all sports equipment and apparel to Faculty coaches, athletes and staff.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Liaising with internal and external contacts to facilitate purchasing by obtaining quotations and issue purchase orders and purchasing apparel and equipment from appropriate vendors
  • Verifying that branded merchandise meets University and Faculty branding and commercialization standards
  • Following rules and procedural instructions when receiving, sorting and distributing apparel, uniforms and equipment
  • Applying established standards when fitting sports equipment
  • Coordinating routine maintenance of equipment
  • Handling minor equipment repairs including troubleshooting and resolving routine maintenance requests
  • Providing safety training and ensuring compliance to occupational safety precautions
  • Fostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, Business or Athletic Administration or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Three years relevant experience working in a sport and recreation environment, managing large equipment inventories and performing minor equipment repairs.
  • Three years experience coordinating and distributing large sports equipment and apparel orders.
  • Three years experience purchasing sports equipment and apparel.
  • Knowledge of industry trends.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and provide outstanding customer service in a sometimes high pressure results driven environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to successfully function in a position driven by competing demands and frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to deliver high quality work in an environment of overlapping and time-sensitive tasks.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:

USW Pay Band 09 -- $67,916. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $86,855. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
