Job Description - Coordinator, Mill Operations (14783)

The Coordinator, Mill Operations supports mill regulatory governance and compliance to ensure safe, productive, responsible, and efficient mill operations. This includes coordination of lock out tag out governance, confined space governance, hot work permitting, permitting for shutdowns and projects, data integrity for reporting, and more.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Coordination of mill regulatory compliance
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive lock out, tag out (LOTO), confined space entry, and hot work permit procedures tailored to the specific needs and layout of the mill facility.
  • Stay updated on all relevant provincial and federal regulations pertaining to LOTO, confined space entry, and other mill permitting matters.
  • Interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into actionable protocols and procedures for mill operations.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate protocols into daily operations seamlessly.
  • Maintain accurate records, ensure documentation is up-to-date, and easily accessible for regulatory inspections and internal audits (Conformit).
  • Generate reports on performance metrics and trends to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop, maintain, and update LOTO sheets, confined space documentation/permits, and hot work documentation/permits.
  • Manage inventory of LOTO equipment (boxes, locks, devices, etc.).
  • Maintain log of open hot work, confined space, and LOTO permits ongoing in the mill.
  • Maintain register of gas detectors and ensure they are calibrated and bumped correctly.
  • Assist with confined space determinations and maintain confined space register.
Operational Excellence
  • Assist, support, and lead mill-related health and safety initiatives.
  • Be proactive and solution-driven, implementing operational improvements.
  • Commit to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Participate in mill continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for improving efficiency of lockouts and shutdown planning.
Work Collaboratively
  • Coordinate with other team members on site to meet operational deliverables.
  • Mentor and train new team members on permitting processes and LOTO.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively using available tools.
  • Report deficiencies to appropriate team members for follow-up.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary teams committed to safety, community, environmental, and shareholder goals.
  • Participate in morning safety huddles.
  • Ensure shift crossover logs are accurate and complete.
  • Participate in mill maintenance planning meetings to meet permitting needs.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements and Nice to Haves

  • College diploma or university degree in a related field.
  • Red Seal Electrician certification is an asset.
  • Ministry Supervisor Training is an asset.

Work experience - Nature & Length

  • Minimum of 8 years of related work experience.
  • 5+ years of technical and mechanical experience is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Experience managing contractors in a mill environment is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Digital literacy and experience with maintenance management systems (Oracle) are desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of gold milling environments is highly desirable.
  • Ability to make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Conformit LOTO system.
  • Self-motivated with a drive for solutions and continuous improvement in a dynamic setting.
