Job Summary

The University of the Fraser Valley invites applications for a 75% Field Experience Coordinator for the Bachelor of Education in the School of Education. This includes undergraduate pre-requisite courses, a 10 ½ month post-degree BEd program, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Mentorship, an ECE Certificate, and an Inclusive Education Assistant Certificate. Classes and offices are located on the Mission campus. The School is committed to anti-racism, social justice, decolonization, and Indigenization, integrating these into all courses, programs, and practicums. Our graduates are valued for their ability to combine educational theory with reflective, socially just teaching practices.

This role is ideal for an educator passionate about working in an innovative environment aligned with the School’s values. The successful candidate will incorporate these values into curriculum design and delivery, supporting diverse perspectives and identities.

Responsibilities
  1. Recruit, coordinate, and support practicum placements for BEd students, considering individual needs.
  2. Develop and maintain relationships with district administration, principals, and mentors to ensure effective practicum experiences.
  3. Track student progress and support faculty mentors.
  4. Identify and address challenges faced by students in the field, providing guidance and solutions.
  5. Provide orientations and facilitate workshops on practicum processes, boundaries, ethics, and educator presence.
  6. Participate as a faculty team member and ensure graduates adhere to professional standards and ethics.
  7. Travel throughout the Fraser Valley as required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8 years of successful K-12 teaching experience with leadership or administrative roles.
  • Master of Education in relevant area.
  • Lived experience with superdiverse identities or communities.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience with mentorship programs and Indigenizing/decolonizing pedagogy.
  • Commitment to social justice, anti-racism, and inclusive education.
  • Ethical decision-making, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to contribute to innovative program development.
  • Experience with adult education, professional development, curriculum development, or supervision is preferred.
