The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) is seeking a Communications Coordinator to support both St. Boniface Hospital and the hospital foundation.

Under supervision, you will help develop and deliver communications materials and strategies to inform staff and the public. You will write, edit, film, photograph, and design content for websites, intranet, social media, newsletters and annual reports, ensuring branding standards are met.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in Creative Communications, Journalism or related field.
  • Fluent English with high-level grammar and spelling.
  • French is an asset but not required.
  • Verbal and written presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of online tools and social media.
  • WordPress knowledge is required.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience planning and leading multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, film, photograph, and design communications material.
  • Produce website and intranet content, social media content, posters, speaking notes, newsletters and annual reports.
  • Ensure materials meet branding standards and hospital guidelines; support staff with communications.
  • Produce donor impact reports and fundraising materials for St. Boniface Hospital Foundation.

Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Senior Officer, Corporate Affairs and Engagement at St. Boniface Hospital and the Director of Communications and Stewardship at St. Boniface Hospital Foundation, the COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR serves both the hospital and its foundation by providing support in the development and delivery of communications products and strategies to support the operations and strategic directions of the organizations, as well as informing and engaging St. Boniface Hospital staff and the public. Duties include writing, editing, filming, photographing, designing and/or producing communications material, including website and intranet content, social media content, posters, speaking notes, staff memos, annual report, newsletters and other communications as required. The position also provides support to staff throughout the hospital to ensure that communication materials meet hospital standards and branding guidelines; produces cases for support and proposals for fundraising initiatives as required; produces a variety of donor impact reports for supporters of St. Boniface Hospital Foundation, including annual endowment reports, sponsor fulfillment reports, and custom reports for major donors and projects, and performs other related duties as assigned.

Experience
  • Minimum (2) two years’ experience in a communications position, preferably in a healthcare or public sector setting.
  • Experience in writing, editing and developing a wide range of materials is essential.
  • Experience in media relations, design, or development of communications strategies is an asset.

Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience, as deemed recognized by the Hospital, may be considered in lieu of the above.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Successful completion of a recognized post-secondary diploma/degree in Creative Communications, Journalism or other related field.
Special Training
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English at a professional level, with high-level grammar and spelling.
  • Ability to speak, read and write French is considered an asset, but is not required.
  • Verbal and written presentation skills.
  • Project management and verbal presentations skills.
  • Strong knowledge of new media technologies, online communication tools and social media.
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, Word Press is required.
  • Proficiency in the use of common software including spreadsheet, word processing, internet and email applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Proficiency in the use of graphic design and/or editing software is an asset. (Indesign, Photoshop, Publisher, FinalCut Pro, etc.).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in planning and research, meeting deadlines, and in leading multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated conceptual ability, analytical skills and big picture thinking; while remaining attentive to relevant details.
