The Coordinator, Admissions and Transfer supports students and the University community by ensuring the efficient and effective daily operations of admission and transfer credit evaluation services within the Office of the Registrar. This position monitors and assesses complex and confidential matters relating to the application, admission, and transfer credit assessment.
Reporting to the Manager, Admissions, the Coordinator, Admissions and Transfer is responsible for managing the day-to-day processing of domestic and international undergraduate degree seeking applications, making decisions to ensure policy compliance and data quality standards, and leading the day-to-day processing of transfer credit requests. This includes using independent discretion and judgment to make decisions. Through leadership, innovation, and collaboration with other parts of the institution, this position will ensure that the work of the office is informed by and supports the goals and mission of the university.
Bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Formal or informal supervisory training is preferred.
Three (3) years related experience, preferably in a post-secondary Registrar’s Office.
Experience supervising others or providing leadership as a Team lead.
Demonstrated ability to influence and guide team members towards meeting established department goals.
Knowledge of BC and Canadian post-secondary education systems, governance and policies.
Ability to work quickly and accurately, with attention to detail.
Advanced level computer skills in MS Office, specifically Excel and Outlook.
Experience working with student records systems, large scale databases, reporting tools, and other student facing systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate patiently and effectively, orally and in writing, with a diverse range of people and situations.
Actively listens to the issues of others in a manner that elicits cooperation and support.
Demonstrates an effective and adaptive skill in communicating with students/individuals under stress.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with ability to cope in stressful situations.
Ability to deal effectively with a diverse population.
Experience dealing with a diverse population.
Ability to manage multiple demands and work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to be proactive in finding solutions.
Demonstrated experience with data-based decision making.
Must hold a valid BC Drivers’ License and own (or have access to) a vehicle (Inter campus travel required).
