Responsibilities

  • Coordinate undergraduate and graduate program admissions and course administration.
  • Respond to inquiries from prospective and current students about BSW, MSW, and PhD programs.
  • Prepare course audits, support student registration, and manage course change forms.
  • Oversee academic requests, appeals, transfer credit, degree audits, and leaves of absence.
  • Develop recruitment initiatives and coordinate information sessions and events.

COORDINATOR, ACADEMIC PROGRAMS(BAND LEVEL 7)

School of Social Work

(1-Year Contractual Position)

The University will consider applications from qualified permanent staff who may be interested in a secondment, subject to departmental approval

DUTIES

Reporting to the Manager, Academic Programs, the Coordinator, Academic Programs will be involved in the operation of the School of Social Work’s undergraduate and graduate academic programs. Duties include participating in and supporting various undergraduate and graduate program committees; coordinating undergraduate and graduate program admissions; responding to BSW, MSW, and PhD program-related inquiries from prospective and current students; coordinating course administration, including preparing course audits, supporting student registration, and coordinating course change forms; coordinating deferred exams, incomplete grades, and re-reads; overseeing academic requests and appeals; facilitating the transfer credit process; interpreting the University Calendar and providing academic advice, including conducting degree audits and coordinating leave of absence requests, course load waivers, and program withdrawals; preparing promotional and application materials for the BSW, MSW, and PhD programs as appropriate; developing recruitment initiatives to increase awareness and interest in all Social Work academic programs through information sessions, high school visits, and MUN community events, and liaising with the Office of Student Recruitment as required; identifying concerns and developing retention initiatives to support student success; collaborating with Field Education Coordinators to address student concerns and issues arising in field education; coordinating various academic events such as orientation and the Scholarships Ceremony; advising and providing direction to student volunteer teams; updating the undergraduate and graduate student handbooks; coordinating the scholarships and awards process; compiling various program-related statistics; updating the website and other social media outlets as needed; and performing other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of three years of administrative experience in a post-secondary academic environment; completion of an undergraduate degree in Social Work or a related discipline is required; or an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. Knowledge of University academic regulations, policies and procedures; familiarity with the School of Social Work’s academic regulations; and experience with university systems, including OnBase and Banner, are considered assets.

SALARY $55,865 - $83,793 per annum (Management and Professional)
