Job Summary & Requirements

Reporting to the Manager of the Hematology program, the Coordinator, Complex Malignant Hematology (CMH) will serve as the primary coordinator for patient care within the CMH program, collaborating with the shared care, leukemia, and Cell therapy teams at Princess Margaret (PM) Cancer Centre.

As a key member of the Malignant Hematology Team, responsibilities include applying specialized knowledge of Malignant Hematology to manage clinical activities effectively. This involves coordinating inpatient and outpatient care, ensuring continuity, and performing various responsibilities such as patient care, teaching, quality improvement, research, and administrative duties. The role also includes cross-functional tasks as assigned.

The Coordinator will facilitate communication among the CMH team, inpatient units, consultants, other departments, and leadership, promoting teamwork, communication, autonomous practice, and continuous improvement. The individual will work with the interprofessional team to optimize patient experience, enhance patient flow, and achieve quality outcomes.

This position requires collaboration with stakeholders to coordinate care and develop best practices to improve quality and efficiency in the CMH program.

Education:
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (required)
  • Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (required)
  • Provincially Recognized Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification or maintenance course (ONS or de Souza Institute)
  • Master’s level preparation in a health profession or related field (asset)
  • Current BCLS, Level II Rescuer certification (required)
  • Canadian Oncology Nurse Certification (asset)
  • Membership in oncology-related associations (asset)
  • Completion of de Souza Complex Malignant Hematology course (required)
Experience:
  • Minimum three (3) years of current or recent malignant hematology oncology experience
  • Experience with systemic therapy/chemotherapy/biotherapy administration (asset)
  • Extensive knowledge of malignant hematology diseases and treatment trajectories
  • 1–2 years in an advanced clinical practice role (preferred)
  • Project management and leadership experience
  • Participation in policy development and process improvement initiatives
