Job summary

Hard Rock Ottawa Hotel & Casino is seeking a part-time cook to prepare foods, wash, peel and slice ingredients, and maintain cleanliness in a highly regulated environment. You will operate and clean a range of kitchen equipment and assist in cost control while ensuring guest satisfaction.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of cooking experience, a Safe Food Handling certificate, and good English communication skills. Standalone restaurant experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent education required.
• Minimum of 2-year cooking experience.
• Safe Food Handling certificate.
• Standalone restaurant experience.
• Ability to communicate clearly and speak, read, write and understand English.
• Must have or be willing to obtain a valid food handlers license.

Responsibilities

• Prepare foods including washing, peeling, and slicing.
• Clean work areas and store deliveries properly.
• Maintain knowledge of food products, sanitation standards, and policies.
• Operate, maintain and clean kitchen equipment per instructions.
• Assist in lowering food cost and waste and label/date products for safety.

Compensation: CAD $ 21.37/Hr.

License Requirements: Food Handlers certificate

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for preparation of foods, including washing, peeling, and slicing.
• Cleans work areas, and stores deliveries in their proper location.
• Maintain solid knowledge of all food products, sanitation standards, and all policies/ procedures and is able to skillfully apply culinary techniques.
• Operates, maintains, and cleans deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven, steam table, flat top grill, and other equipment according to instructions.
• Assists in lowering food cost and waste, properly label and date all products to ensure safekeeping and sanitation.
• Work as a team, helping all team members to complete the required activities that ensure we blow away Guest expectations.
• Perform duties in accordance with company standards, policies, and guidelines.
• Perform additional duties as requested.

Experience, Education and Certifications:

Physical Demands:

• Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time.

Working Conditions:

Duties and responsibilities are typically performed in a highly regulated and controlled environment, but there will be times where you will need to be on the Casino Floor to complete job functions as outlined or pass through this area. On the Casino Floor, you may be exposed to casino-related environmental factors including, but not limited to, excessive noise.
