Job summary

Alberta Health Services (AHS) seeks a Cook I at Milk River Health Centre to prepare, portion and assemble meals with limited supervision. Duties include serving and delivering meals, following recipes, and maintaining sanitation per AHS guidelines.

The role requires physical capability, English literacy, and food safety certification. This temp part-time position (FTE 0.70) offers day/evening/weekend shifts in a hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Physically capable to lift up to 46lbs and push/pull meal carts up to 250lbs.
• Walk and stand on your feet for the duration of your shift.
• Food Sanitation and Hygiene Certificate or equivalent.
• Read/Write/Speak/Understand English.

Adhere to safety, sanitation, and food preparation standards in accordance with AHS policies and guidelines. Complete other food service duties as assigned. The successful candidate will be able to: Work in a fast-paced environment with speed and accuracy. Work under pressure in high stress situations. Communicate effectively in English with patients, co-workers, and other hospital departments. Work as an effective, professional team member. Description:

As a Cook I, you will be responsible for food preparation, portion and assembly, and serving of menu items with limited supervision. Your typical duties may include preparing multi-ingredient recipes from raw ingredients using various cooking techniques and established recipes, preparing meals using precooked products utilizing various re-thermalization techniques and ensuring meals are appropriately portioned. You will follow AHS guidelines for quantity and quality controls, food safety standards, and established cleaning and sanitization practices to ensure the cleanliness of cooking equipment and work areas.
