Job summary

Lifetimes Living Inc. is seeking a Dietary Aide to support our resident meals with care and compassion in Niagara Falls. You will deliver, plate, and serve meals as directed by the cook, while upholding safety standards and resident-focused service.

The role emphasizes empathy for seniors, teamwork with Food Services, and adherence to HACCP and health and safety guidelines. Weekend shifts from early morning into afternoon with bi-weekly hours are included, offering competitive wages and growth

Qualifications

• Current certificate in food handling training from a local health body.
• Cooking experience in a food service setting is required.
• Familiar with HACCP, WHMIS, OH&S and sanitation codes.
• Ability to follow dietary restrictions and orders.

Responsibilities

• Delivers meals in a pleasant, courteous manner.
• Preparing, plating, and serving food as requested.
• Respect residents’ likes/dislikes and dietary requirements.
• Maintains serveries, tables, and storage areas.
• Cleans tables, loads dishwasher, and resets dining areas.

The Dietary Aide reports to the Culinary Services Manager and is expected to demonstrate commitment to resident safety by preparing and/or serving meals directed by the cook for individual residents and by providing high-quality care in accordance with the organization's vision and mission.

Wage Rate

The starting wage rate is $19.08/hour.

Responsibilities

• Delivers meals in a pleasant, courteous manner,
• Preparing, plating, and serving food as requested,
• Respect the Residents' likes and dislikes and adhere to their special dietary requirements,
• Ensures that meals are an experience rather than a task,
• Maintains serveries, tables, food storage area, fridges, and freezers,
• Clean and reset tables and remove dirty dishes,
• Ensures dishwasher is loaded, operated, and emptied,
• Collaborates with all associates in Food Services and other departments,
• Supports FIFO processes,
• Vacuum and damp mop floors as needed,
• Ensures a safe working environment,
• Participates in education as required,
• Any and all other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Current certificate in food handling training from a local board of health or an agency of the board of health or has recently successfully completed an equivalent food handler training program,
• Cooking experience in a food service setting is required,
• Previous employment in a health care/hospitality setting is an asset,
• Demonstrated understanding of/empathy for the needs of seniors,
• Familiar with HACCP, WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety, Sanitation Code,
• Knowledgeable about food handling and storage,Ability to serve food attractively and correctly by understanding orders,
• Mentally and physically able to perform duties as assigned,
• Organizational and time-management skills,
• Individual and teamwork skills,
• Ability to make the most of the time you have to provide positive social interactions,
• Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing,
• Clear vulnerable sector screening (w/ in last 6 months), recent TB test results (w/ in last 6 months) or Chest X-ray (w/ in last 1 yr), and two supervisory references are required.
