Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Cambridge is seeking a part-time Cook to prepare and deliver meals for residents, guests and staff. You will review menus, follow production sheets, and ensure safe food handling while working within a healthcare setting.

The role requires experience with large-scale cooking, knowledge of therapeutic diets, and the ability to lift heavy items. A Food Handler’s Certificate is required; a Red Seal is preferred, and a Vulnerable Sector Check may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have Food Handler's Certificate.
• Red Seal Certificate preferred.
• Experience in large quantity food preparation, preferably in healthcare or retirement setting.
• Knowledge of Provincial Food Premises Regulation and Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating.
• Knowledge of special and therapeutic diets.
• Physically able to lift and stand for long periods.
• Second language skills are an asset.
• Vulnerable Sector Check or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and/or be responsible for the preparation and delivery of all foods for residents, guests and staff.
• Review menus and production sheets; prepare and serve meals attractively.
• Use proper food handling techniques at all times.
• Complete daily temperature audits for fridges, freezers and storerooms; record results.
• Prepare and serve foods for therapeutic/special diets as planned.
• Record menu substitutions and keep designated logs.
• Adhere to service times and production charts within budget.
• Comply with provincial regulations and dietary department policies.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings and quality programs.
