Job summary

Hyatt Regency Vancouver is seeking a dedicated, customer service-oriented Part Time - Cook 4 (Cook's Helper) to join the Culinary team. The role assists the culinary group, supports menu item prep, and participates in kitchen operations with attention to detail.

The position offers a starting wage of $26.08 per hour, rising to $30.42 after six months and $34.77 after one year, with opportunities for growth within Hyatt's welcoming, diverse culture.

Qualifications

  • Must have BC Food Safe certificate.
  • Willing to work varied shifts (weekends/holidays).
  • Basic culinary knowledge and ability to train in kitchen areas.
  • Culinary degree is an asset; previous hotel/restaurant experience helps.

Responsibilities

  • Assist culinary team in creating menu items for guests.
  • Support kitchen operations with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Work in outlets, staff cafeteria and banquet functions as needed.

The Cook's Helperis a culinary position that requires basic culinary skills or related cooking experience andgood communication skills.This is typically a production position that requires total supervision and training.The Cook’s Helper in ourkitchenworks to assist the culinary team in creating wonderfulmenu items for our guests.This position requires attention to detail and basic culinary knowledge.

The starting wage for this position is $26.08 per hour, after the first six months it will increase to $30.42 per hour, and after one year will be at the full rate of $34.77 per hour.

Qualifications
  • Must have BC Food Safe certificate
  • Must be available to work various shifts including weekends and holidays (afternoon and/ or evening shifts) as per business needs
  • Must be able to perform all duties and tasks assigned in a timely manner with minimal supervision
  • Must be eager to train and work in various areas of the kitchen (outlets, staff cafeteria and banquet functions included)
  • Basic culinary skills and knowledge is a requirement
  • Culinary degree is an asset
  • Previous hotel or restaurant experience is an asset
  • Must have a true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment
  • Must have good communication skills and a good understanding of the English language
  • Must be capable of multi-tasking
  • Must be organized and clean
  • Must be able to work with a diverse group of individuals
  • Must be an excellent team player

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling
  • Occasional ascending or descendingstairs and ramps
  • Capable of performing repetitious duties
