Job summary

Silver Hotel Group is seeking a Cook 3 to join the Valhalla Hotel & Conference Centre kitchen in Thunder Bay, ON. This versatile role covers all areas of kitchen operations, from prep to plating, and requires independent work at any station while maintaining production standards.

You will support a fast-paced environment, ensure food quality, follow health and safety practices, and collaborate with the Food and Beverage team to deliver memorable dining experiences.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to hotel standards of food quality, recipes and preparation.
• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning and storing.
• Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables; weigh and mix ingredients.
• Ensure highest quality of product and proper setup of menu items.
• Follow seasoning, portions, and appearance guidelines.
• Store unused food properly to minimize waste and maximize quality.
• Practice proper health & safety and sanitation.
• Coordinate with related Food and Beverage departments for smooth operations.
• Prepare hot and cold foods according to recipes and quality standards.
• Perform other duties as required; work breakfast, lunch, dinner and banquets if applicable.
• Available to work flexible hours including mornings and holidays.

We are currently recruiting a Cook 3 to work at our Valhalla Hotel & Conference Centre location in Thunder Bay, ON to take its food and beverage operation to the next level. As a member of the kitchen team the Cook 3 is a versatile and flexible cook who is familiar with all areas of kitchen operations and production. They are responsible for the general production of all menu items and participate in all cooking and food preparation processes. The Cook 3 can work independently at any assigned station and in all areas of the kitchen. They ensure production standards nare met and are familiar with all menu items and can take on any task in the kitchen ensuring all production, plating and product quality standards are met. They are focused on providing exceptional service and creating memorable dining experiences forall guests by ensuring all food items are ready on time and ensuring quality control. Key Responsibilities

• Adhere to hotel standards of food quality, recipes and preparation;
• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food;
• Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables;
• Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients;
• Ensure the highest quality of the product in the preparation of food;
• Ensure the proper setup and readiness of menu items;
• Adhere to the seasoning, portions, and appearance guidelines of food served;
• Store unused food properly to minimize waste and maximize quality;
• Ensure that proper Health & Safety and sanitation practices are practiced;
• Assure smooth kitchen operations by coordinating with related Food and Beverage Departments;
• Prepare hot and cold foods according to recipes, quality and presentation standards, and food preparation checklist
• Perform other duties as required;
• Ability to work and prepare all menu items including breakfast, lunch and dinner, and banqueting (if applicable);
• Available to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
