Silver Hotel Group’s Valhalla Hotel & Conference Centre in Thunder Bay, Ontario is seeking a Cook 3 to lead diverse kitchen operations and ensure quality across breakfast, lunch, dinner, and banquets. You will work independently at various stations and maintain high production standards with strong attention to detail.

The role requires flexibility with hours, a positive team attitude, and a passion for presentation.

Qualifications

• Experience in kitchen operations and food preparation.

• Follow portioning and presentation guidelines.
• Store unused food properly to minimize waste.
• Maintain health and sanitation practices.
• Coordinate with Food and Beverage to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
• Prepare hot and cold foods per recipes and standards.

We are currently recruiting a Cook 3to work at our Valhalla Hotel & Conference Centre location in Thunder Bay, ON to take its food and beverage operation to the next level. As a member of the kitchen teamthe Cook3 isa versatileand flexible cook who is familiar with all areas of kitchen operations and production. They are responsible for the general production of all menu items and participate in all cooking and food preparation processes. The Cook3 can work independently at any assigned station and in all areas of the kitchen. They ensure production standards nare met and are familiar with all menu items and can take on any task in the kitchen ensuringall production, plating and product quality standards are met. They are focused on providing exceptional service and creating memorable dining experiences forall guests by ensuring all food items are ready on time and ensuring quality control. Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Executive Chef or designate, you will

• Adhere to hotel standards of food quality, recipes and preparation;
• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food;
• Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables;
• Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients;
• Ensure the highest quality of the product in the preparation of food;
• Ensure the proper setup and readiness of menu items;
• Adhere to the seasoning, portions, and appearance guidelines of food served;
• Store unused food properly to minimize waste and maximize quality;
• Ensure that proper Health & Safety and sanitation practices are practiced;
• Assure smooth kitchen operations by coordinating with related Food and Beverage Departments;
• Prepare hot and cold foods according to recipes, quality and presentation standards, and food preparation checklist
• Perform other duties as required;
• Ability to work and prepare all menu items including breakfast, lunch and dinner, and banqueting (if applicable);
• Available to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
