Job summary

SSP Canada is hiring a Cook at Ottawa International Airport. You will follow recipes, set up the kitchen, and present dishes with eye for quality. This on-site role offers a comprehensive benefits package and meal plan.

Requirements include 1 year in food service, ability to read and follow English instructions, a food handlers permit, and the ability to obtain Transport Canada security clearance. This is a full-time position located in Canada.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a food service environment.
• Ability to follow basic recipes and operate grill, fryer and other kitchen equipment.
• Proficient reading, speaking, and understanding of English.
• Food handlers permit as required by law.
• Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods.
• Ability to obtain Transport Canada security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Follows recipes, checks portion sizes, garnishes, and presents dishes as ordered.
• Set up kitchen/work station each shift, manage orders, store and stock ingredients.
• Handle, store and rotate products properly.
• Ensure equipment and machines are cleaned and functioning correctly.
• Manage stock, cutting and storage of perishable goods daily to maintain quality.
• Complete opening/closing control sheets as requested.
• Return utensils to storage and maintain a tidy workspace and storage areas.
• Perform general and specific cleaning using approved products to meet hygiene standards.
• Take instructions from the manager and verify stock before leaving to ensure orderliness.

Here are a few things you can expect as a Cookat SSP Canada:

• Follows the recipes, checks the portion of the recipes, the garnishes and present the dishes ordered.
• Have the correct and adequate set up in the kitchen / work station at each shift. This includes making orders, storing, storing all fresh, dry, frozen goods; condiments and supplies.
• Handle, store and rotate the stored products properly.
• In charge of setting up, regular maintenance, cleaning and proper functioning of assigned equipment and machines.
• In charge of the supply of stocks, cutting, and storage of perishable goods every day in order to maintain the quality of the products.
• Complete the control sheets for opening, in progress and closing if requested.
• Put all the utensils used during the shift in its place, clean and tidy up its work place as well as the storage areas (includes refrigerators, freezers), empty, clean and store the bins.
• Practice general and specific cleanings using the appropriate products as indicated by the manager in order to meet hygiene standards.
• Take the instructions from the manager when taking office and take stock with the manager before leaving to make sure everything is in order
