Job summary

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Cook for the Adult Day Centre in North Vancouver, BC. The role reports to the Manager and involves preparing, serving, and storing meals, assisting clients in baking activities, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen.

The position requires a 12-month cooking program and a valid Food Safe Certificate, with experience cooking for seniors and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized 12-month program in cooking.
• Current Food Safe Certificate is required.

Job description

Come work as a Cook with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) on the Adult Daycare in North Vancouver, BC!

Reporting to the Manager of the Adult Day Centre, and working within the program’s goals and objectives, prepares, serves and stores a variety of food and snack items. Assists program workers clients in baking projects and other activities suitable in the kitchen area. Maintains the cleanliness of work areas.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.

Education & Experience

• Graduation from a recognized 12 month program in cooking and recent, related experience cooking for seniors, including those with modified diet and/or food texture needs, or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience.


• Current Food Safe Certificate required.
