Job summary

Sienna Senior Living is seeking a casual Cook for Aspira Quinte Gardens Retirement in Ontario. You will prepare nutritious meals and consider residents' dietary needs, while contributing to a positive dining experience in a caring, resident-focused environment.

The role requires a Grade 12 education, Safe Food Handling and/or Smart Serve certificates, and prior institutional/healthcare cooking experience. Shift is 11am–7pm, salary is CAD 21.41 per hour.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience preparing meals in fast-paced kitchens.
• Ability to meet prescribed dietary requirements and maintain food temperatures.
• Experience applying recipes, production sheets and menu guidelines.
• Willingness to support operations in absence of team leader.

You will contribute to creating enjoyable dining experiences that support residents’ health and well-being. As an individual and part of a wider team, you will be a strong contributor to the culture of the home, where the focus is always on helping residents live fully, every day.

What makes you a great fit?

• You have hands-on experience preparing meals and snacks in a fast-paced kitchen, following recipes, production sheets, and menu guidelines.
• You understand the importance of meeting prescribed dietary requirements, proper food temperatures, and portion control while maintaining high quality standards.
• Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advises team leader of problems and makes recommendations about corrective action.
• In the absence of the team leader, assumes responsibility for departmental operations including menu changes as necessary, requisitions and purchases food and other supplies from authorized suppliers.

What You Need To Know

• Grade 12 minimum education required
• A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate
• Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality
• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit
• You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check
