Job summary

Amenida Senior Community is seeking a part-time Cook to join our onsite kitchen team at 1645 Pickering Pkwy, Pickering. You will prepare and serve home-style meals, focusing on Korean cuisine to meet residents' cultural and dietary preferences while maintaining high standards of taste, presentation and safety.

Responsibilities include planning meals, assisting the Food Service Manager, ensuring sanitation, managing portions, and lifting heavy items as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in a busy kitchen, preferably in senior care.
• Ability to prepare large-batch meals with attention to taste and dietary needs.
• Valid Food Handling Certificate.
• Experience with Korean cuisine preferred.
• Ability to lift and perform physical tasks.
• Willing to work weekends and holidays.
• Criminal background check required.

Your Day to Day:
As a Cook at Amenida Senior Community, your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and serving home-cooked meals using fresh, real ingredients for a large group of residents.
• Planning and prepping meals for the current and following day.
• Assisting the Food Service Manager with kitchen operations as needed.
• Ensuring proper food presentation and portion control.
• Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in all food preparation areas in accordance with health regulations.
• Supporting kitchen tasks including lifting, bending, twisting, and standing for long periods.
• Cleaning kitchen equipment and work areas according to established standards.
• Adhering to safety and food handling protocols at all times.
• Focusing on preparing authentic Korean cuisine to meet the cultural and dietary preferences of residents.

What You Bring to the Table:

• Proven experience cooking in a busy kitchen environment, preferably in a senior care or institutional setting.
• Ability to prepare large-batch meals with attention to taste, presentation, and dietary requirements.
• Valid Food Handling Certificate.
• Strong understanding of and experience in Korean cuisine (preferred).
• Ability to lift, bend, and perform physical tasks related to food service.
• Positive attitude and a team-oriented mindset.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays as needed.
• Must successfully complete a criminal background check prior to hire, including a Vulnerable Sector Screening, in accordance with applicable provincial and federal regulations.
