Job summary

Amenida Senior Community in Stratford, Ontario is hiring a part-time Cook onsite. Shifts run 11am–7pm and 6:30am–2pm on a rotating weekend schedule, at 480 Downie Street. Pay is $19.81 per hour.

Responsibilities include preparing and serving home-cooked meals for residents, planning meals for today and tomorrow, assisting the Food Service Manager, ensuring proper food presentation, safety, and sanitation, with a focus on authentic Korean cuisine.

Qualifications

• Experience cooking in a busy kitchen, preferably in senior care or institutional settings.
• Ability to plan and prep meals for current and following day.
• Valid Food Handling Certificate required.

Your Day to Day:
As a Cook at Amenida Senior Community, your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and serving home-cooked meals using fresh, real ingredients for a large group of residents.
• Planning and prepping meals for the current and following day.
• Assisting the Food Service Manager with kitchen operations as needed.
• Ensuring proper food presentation and portion control.
• Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in all food preparation areas in accordance with health regulations.
• Supporting kitchen tasks including lifting, bending, twisting, and standing for long periods.
• Cleaning kitchen equipment and work areas according to established standards.
• Adhering to safety and food handling protocols at all times.
• Focusing on preparing authentic Korean cuisine to meet the cultural and dietary preferences of residents.

What You Bring to the Table:

• Proven experience cooking in a busy kitchen environment, preferably in a senior care or institutional setting.
• Ability to prepare large-batch meals with attention to taste, presentation, and dietary requirements.
• Valid Food Handling Certificate.
• Ability to lift, bend, and perform physical tasks related to food service.
• Positive attitude and a team-oriented mindset.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays as needed.
• Must successfully complete a criminal background check prior to hire, including a Vulnerable Sector Screening, in accordance with applicable provincial and federal regulations.
