Job summary

Aspira Wildpine Retirement Living is seeking a passionate Cook to ensure nutritious, high-quality meals for residents. You will follow recipes and dietary guidelines while paying attention to portion control and food safety in a busy kitchen.

You will work part-time shifts including evenings and weekends, contributing to enjoyable dining experiences that support residents' health, dignity and daily happiness.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience preparing meals and snacks in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Ability to meet prescribed dietary requirements and maintain proper food temperatures.
• Monitor quality of food supplies and advise on corrective actions.
• Take responsibility for department operations in absence of the team leader, including menu changes and purchases.
• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada and pass a Vulnerable Sector Check.

What makes you a great fit?

• You have hands-on experience preparing meals and snacks in a fast-paced kitchen, following recipes, production sheets, and menu guidelines.
• You understand the importance of meeting prescribed dietary requirements, proper food temperatures, and portion control while maintaining high quality standards.
• Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advises team leader of problems and makes recommendations about corrective action
• In the absence of the team leader, assumes responsibility for departmental operations including menu changes as necessary, requisitions and purchases food and other supplies from authorized suppliers

What You Need To Know

• Grade 12 minimum education required
• A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate
• Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality
• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit
• You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check
• Sienna Senior Living may utilize artificial Intelligence to screen or assess applicants for this position
