Job summary

Aspira Lincoln Park Retirement Living in Grimsby is hiring a Full Time Cook to prepare nutritious meals for residents, honoring dietary needs in a fast‑paced kitchen.

Rate of pay is $18.17 per hour plus a $1.50 premium. Shifts are bi‑weekly; you’ll work eight shifts per period. Requirements include Grade 12, Safe Food Handling or Smart Serve, experience in institutional or healthcare food service, eligibility to work in Canada, and a Vulnerable Sector Check.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 minimum education required.
  • A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate.
  • Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality.
  • You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit.
  • You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Sienna Senior Living may utilize artificial Intelligence to screen or assess applicants for this position.

Responsibilities

  • You will prepare nutritious, high-quality meals following dietary guidelines.
  • Ensure proper food temperatures and portion control during service.
  • Monitor quality of food supplies and advise on corrective action as needed.
  • In absense of team leader, assist with menu changes, requisitions and purchases.

  • You have hands-on experience preparing meals and snacks in a fast-paced kitchen, following recipes, production sheets, and menu guidelines.
  • You understand the importance of meeting prescribed dietary requirements, proper food temperatures, and portion control while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advises team leader of problems and makes recommendations about corrective action
  • In the absence of the team leader, assumes responsibility for departmental operations including menu changes as necessary, requisitions and purchases food and other supplies from authorized suppliers
