Job summary

Aspira Quinte Gardens Retirement in Belleville, Ontario is seeking a Cook for a temporary full-time 3-month contract. Rate of pay is $21.41 per hour.

You will work 11am to 7pm, 75 hours every two weeks, preparing nutritious meals while considering dietary needs and cultural preferences. Grade 12, Safe Food Handling and/or Smart Serve certs, and experience in health-care or institutional kitchens are required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience preparing meals in a kitchen.
• Ability to meet dietary requirements and portion control.
• Experience following recipes, production sheets, and menus.

What makes you a great fit?

• You have hands-on experience preparing meals and snacks in a fast-paced kitchen, following recipes, production sheets, and menu guidelines.
• You understand the importance of meeting prescribed dietary requirements, proper food temperatures, and portion control while maintaining high quality standards.
• Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advises team leader of problems and makes recommendations about corrective action
• In the absence of the team leader, assumes responsibility for departmental operations including menu changes as necessary, requisitions and purchases food and other supplies from authorized suppliers

What you need to know:

• Grade 12 minimum education required
• A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and/or Smart Serve certificate
• Experience with cooking in institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality
• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit
• You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check
