Job summary

Schlegel Villages is seeking a Cook at the Village of Glendale Crossing to join our culinary team. The position involves preparing meals, adhering to safety standards, and supporting residents with nutritious, well-presented food options. Qualifications include Chef Training or Culinary Management Diploma and a valid food safety certification.

Candidates should be able to lift up to 35lbs and demonstrate a caring, respectful approach to residents and colleagues. Red Seal is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals and menus with a focus on safety, quality, and resident preferences
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and food handling standards
• Collaborate with care teams to meet dietary needs and therapeutic diets
• Assist with training and guidance of kitchen staff as needed

The hiring rate for this role is $ 22.82 per collective agreement/employee association agreement.

To be successful as our new COOK, you will:

• Be a graduate of Chef Training or Culinary Management Diploma from an accredited college
• Possess a food safety certification
• Be able to lift up to 35lbs
• Display a caring and respectful attitude toward our residents, families, and team members
• Understand the physical, mental, and emotional demands of the COOK role

It would be an asset if our new COOK has:

• Acquired a Red Seal designation
• Possesses an understanding of therapeutic diets
• Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, legislation, regulations and best practices applicable to the retirement and long-term care sector
