Responsibilities
- Responsible for the preparation and cooking of food in the community, ensuring all meals meet Atria Retirement’s standards.
- Work closely with the Executive Chef and/or Executive Director to ensure resident satisfaction with food and dining programs.
- Maintain kitchen and food storage areas in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition at all times.
- Responsible for opening and/or closing the kitchen.
- Adhere to cleaning schedules as assigned.
- Ensure all food is received, stored, and prepared according to company standards.
- Estimate daily or weekly food and supply needs and communicate with the kitchen leadership.
- Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes and menus.
- Document food temperatures prior to service and monitor refrigeration and freezer temperatures.
- Ensure snacks and beverages are available for residents at all times.
- Keep kitchen floors clean and trash emptied regularly.
- Assist with the transportation and storage of food and supplies.
- Follow standard food safety practices.
- Assist with special events, banquets, and theme meals preparation and execution.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment in a clean, sanitary manner.
- Attend pre-meal briefings in the kitchen before service.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Effective communication skills in English with employees and residents.
- Minimum of 1-3 years experience as a cook in hospitality or healthcare settings.
- Food handler permit as required by law and company standards.
- Ability to read and follow recipes, production guides, cleaning schedules, and logs.
- Knowledge of food handling, preparation, cooking, and service.
